BenQ X3000i Review

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of testing BenQ's X1300i gaming projector, a decent 1080p gaming offering that could be an ideal proposal for any gamer under a tight budget. Now in our BenQ X3000i review, we are going to test BenQ's latest release in the X series, which is an X1300i on 4K steroids. Looking at the X1300i and X3000i, you are going to find a lot of similarities between the two. Looking at the specs, it will be hard to spot any meaningful differences other than the resolution upgrade. But these numbers tell only half the story, and we are here to determine if this new release takes gaming into the 4K resolution with might or if it fails to make a real impact. As we always do, let's go over the specs real quick. The X3000i is a 4K resolution pixel shifting gaming projector that uses a single DLP DMD chip and a 4LED light source for getting a 3,000 lumens brightness rating. It comes with low input lag, specific gaming modes, HDR10 and HLG support, Android TV, and all its online and streaming features.

JVC DLA-NZ8 Review (8K D-ILA Projector)

Today we return to JVC projectors after our previous testing of their excellent DLA-NZ7, and we will be looking at the mid-tier unit, if you can call it that, in their latest 2022 release lineup. If you are a projector enthusiast, JVC is probably on your radar and not without reason. Their previous NX lineup was terrific, and JVC seems to have gone further this year. So in our JVC DLA-NZ8 review, we will put this monster through its paces to see what it is made of. JVC DLA-NZ8 Review (8K D-ILA Projector). The new 2022 lineup consists of three projectors, including the DLA-NZ7 we previously tested, the DLA-NZ8 we have here with us today and the top of the line DLA-NZ9. Along with these three, the previous DLA-NX5 will remain part of the new lineup as a more low-budget solution. The most significant difference this year is centred around two things. First, the new lineup can support up to 8K, and the new projectors have changed from lamp-based to laser-based. So while in many aspects, the new models may look similar to their predecessors, there are some fundamental differences between them. The DLA-NZ8 has a few notable upgrades over the NZ7 so let's see quickly what this JVC projector offers. The NZ8 can accept up to 8K@60Hz signals and output 8K with e-shift technology, which is an upgrade over the e-shift technology of the NZ7. It uses JVC's third-generation BLU-Escent laser diode light source capable of 2,500 lumens and a 3-chip design, one for each primary colour. It is…

ViewSonic PX701-4K Review

A few years ago it was inconceivable that nowadays we would be able to get a 4K projector under a $1,000 and with very respectable performance. Even if this is not a true native 4K projector but a 4K pixel shifter as many low cost 4K projectors are. And while this may not be a market for the hardcore videophiles there are certainly a lot of consumers that are looking for budget solutions for their home entertainment. And so in our ViewSonic PX701-4K review we will be looking at this latest low budget model that is part of ViewSonic’s latest projector lineup that came to the market in 2021. There are not many 4K projectors in the market that come with a price under $1,000 and two of them are in fact from ViewSonic, the PX727-4K and the PX747-4K, that we had reviewed already. Now ViewSonic is expanding their low budget lineup with the PX701-4K that we have with us here today along with the slightly more expensive PX748-4K. As for the PX701-4K, it seems that this is mostly aimed for bright rooms as its high brightness output is meant for areas with a lot of windows and for use in broad daylight. Going quickly over the specs we see that the PX701-4K is using a single 0.47” DMD chip from Texas Instruments which with the use of XPR technology is able to reach the required 4K resolution. It can display an image in either 4K@60Hz or even go as high as 1080p@240Hz if you more into gaming. ViewSonic claims an extremely low input lag when playing at 1080p@240Hz which will be greatly…

BenQ X1300i Review

BenQ is no stranger in the projector market and they have released a few very nice low budget projectors that we have reviewed in the past. In our BenQ X1300i review today we will be looking at a gaming projector that was released in 2021 and although this is not a 4K model but a 1080p one there are many people that still find gaming at this lower resolution more than an acceptable choice. BenQ has recently released the X3000i which is the 4K brother of the model we have here so stay tuned for that review in the very near future also. Gaming projectors is not something new but if you think of the whole projector market then they only take a small portion of the consumer market. And there are a lot of reasons this is happening as normal projectors have certain weaknesses that for gaming, let’s say they are not the ideal option. And this is where gaming projectors come in and although these have their own set of problems and downsides they are specifically designed to offer a more smooth and pleasant gaming experience. The BenQ X1300i we have here for testing can output only 1080p resolution, although it can accept 4K signals with HDR without a problem. It supports both HDR10 and HLG as usual and is rated at 3,000 lumens brightness. It uses DLP technology but instead of the usual lamp it uses a 4LED light source which has its own advantages and disadvantages. But its major strength as you have guessed is its extremely low input…
