Denon AVR-S760H Review: The Game-Changer in Home Theater Systems

In my previous review on the TCL 32" 32S355, I discussed the impact of a quality TV on the viewing experience. But what's a top-tier TV without an equally impressive audio system to complement it? Enter the Denon AVR-S760H, a game-changer for audiophiles. First off, the 8K ready 7.2 channel AVR promises not only the best 4K home theater setup but also ushers in the future with its 8K video support. For enthusiasts looking ahead, this feature is a definitive win. Add to that the advanced HDMI video section, complete with 8K upscaling and three dedicated 8K inputs, ensuring that visuals are rendered in breathtaking detail and vibrant color. Gamers, too, will find a companion in the AVR-S760H. The promise of a lag-free experience is enticing. With features like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), gameplay is smoother and visually richer than ever before. But what truly sets the Denon apart is its audio prowess. The inclusion of HEOS multi-room wireless speakers ensures that high-fidelity sound isn't just confined to one room but can be enjoyed throughout the home. Whether you're streaming via Spotify or TuneIn, the audio experience is unparalleled. Voice control enthusiasts aren't left out either. Full compatibility with Alexa and other voice agents means you can control the system without ever having to lift a finger. Denon AVR-X2800H Review

Denon may have been part of Sound United for some time, along with sister brand Marantz, but they have managed to keep the distinct identity that made them such a fan favorite all these years. And while Denon makes a lot of products, their AV receivers are surely the crown jewel of their entire product lineup. As such, today in our Denon AVR-X2800H review, we will be looking at its latest release and if it has anything new to offer compared to its predecessor. Since 2020, when the first HDMI 2.1 AV receivers came out with the dreaded HDMI 2.1 bug, we have been waiting for an update on their X series of AV receivers, and it seems that the time finally came. Recently Denon announced two new models, the AVR-X2800H and the AVR-X3800H, that will be available from now, while two more, the AVR-X4800H and the AVR-A1H, will arrive early next year. We will talk more about the X3800H in a future review, as today, we will focus on the smaller of the two, the X2800H. A receiver is a 7.2-channel unit with 95 watts of built-in amplification per channel. It supports the standard by now Dolby Atmos and DTS: X along with the usual virtual and up-mixing tech like Dolby Surround, DTS Neural: X, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, and DTS Virtual: X, uses the Audyssey MultEQ XT auto-calibration system and includes plenty of features like High-Resolution Audio, HEOS technology, AirPlay 2, voice control, custom integration as well as bi-amp capabilities, multi-room zones, and HDMI 2.1 ports.

Denon AVR-X1700H Review

While many were hoping for a new lineup of AV receivers in 2022, we will have to wait a bit longer to see a refreshed lineup from Denon. But this doesn’t stop us from looking at some of their previous releases, and so in our Denon AVR-X1700H review today, we will be testing the smaller unit they have available in their more premium X-series. Although Denon has separated their AV receivers into two categories, the X-series and the S-series, some models from both seem similar in design and specs. This is because both series have a lot of standard hardware, and their differences are minimal to distinguish upon first look. The AVR-X1700H, for example, that we have here today is very close in specs to the AVR-S760H, which we reviewed a few months ago. So what does the X1700H has to offer? The unit features 7.2 channels of built-in amplification with 80 watts of power, supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: X along with the usual virtual and up-mixing tech like Dolby Surround, DTS Neural: X, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual: X, comes with Audyssey MultEQ XT auto-calibration system and features plenty of extras like High-Resolution Audio, HEOS technology, AirPlay 2, voice control, custom integration as well as HDMI upscaling and fully working HDMI 2.1 ports.

Denon AVR-S960H Review (7.2 CH 8K AV Receiver)

Today we will continue our venture into Denon’s AV receivers lineup, and we will be testing another model in their more affordable, in theory, S-series. In our Denon AVR-S960H review, we will look into the most premium unit, which featured 7.2 channels and was one of the first units released with a single HDMI 2.1. This initial batch of receivers had the infamous HDMI 2.1 bug, but since then, there have been some exciting developments that we are going to discuss. Pricing and specs between a few of Denon’s S-series and X-series models are close. It has become increasingly difficult for many consumers to decide the best and the differences they have. So as we test this one, we will point out what similarities there are with corresponding units and what you should pay attention to. But as we do in all our reviews, let’s take a look over the specs of this one. The AVR-S960H comes with 7.2 channels of built-in amplification with 90 watts of power per channel, supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: X along with the usual virtual and up-mixing tech like Dolby Surround, DTS Neural: X, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual: X, comes with the basic version of Audyssey called Audyssey MultEQ auto-calibration system and comes with plenty of extras like High-Resolution Audio, HEOS technology, AirPlay 2, voice control as well as HDMI upscaling and a single HDMI 2.1 port.

Denon DHT-S316 Review (2.1 CH Soundbar)

Denon is a very respected brand in the home theater market with their AV receivers are the first that comes to mind and have earned a lot of praise through the years. But Denon makes a lot more than just AV receivers, and another market they are in, although in a smaller capacity, is the soundbars one. And today, in our Denon DHT-S316 review, we will be testing the last one in their current lineup that we didn’t have the chance to check out yet. The DHT-S316 soundbar is not a new model. Unlike the DHT-S517 and the DHT-S217, the new 2022 model, the DHT-S316, has been available for a few years. But judging by its specs, Denon decided to continue its availability to bridge the gap that was visible between the two new releases. The DHT-S316 is considered the mid-tier option in Denon’s soundbars lineup. Let’s see now real quick what this soundbar can offer. This is essentially a soundbar-subwoofer combo with a 2.1 channel configuration. It supports Dolby Digital and DTS sound, while in terms of extras, it comes with the bare minimum: Bluetooth streaming and very few sound features. The Denon DHT-S316 looks like a straightforward system. In terms of features, you get the basics, and judging by the specs, it is obvious why Denon kept it well into 2022. But with a price of $299, competition is very stiff nowadays, and there are a lot of other brands with similar costs.
